return to turbulence

  Though man a thinking being is defined,
Few use the grand prerogative of mind.
How few think justly of the thinking few!
How many never think, who think they do!

The following essays were written for a class I attended at San Francisco Sate University in the Fall of 1994. This class was entitled "Biological Sex and Cultural Gender", and discussed gender in our society and in the world and how it related to our biological sex. I found the class very informative, although I managed to piss off most of the women in my class. Sometimes the class would degenerate into what I call "man-bashing". At these times, I would sit straight up and say "I don't know what you're talking about! I have never been opressed in my life!" How sensitive of me *grin* Anyway, by the end of the class, I began to realize that women are still opressed to some degree. However, I still maintain that we are all individuals and can escape being a victim to our narrow-minded society.

The essays aren't rants on my views (what a relief! you cry), but responses to questions I had on a midterm. Let me know if you have any questions or if you would like to discuss them with me!
